SOME GREAT EVERLY POEMS BY JUDI GEMEINHARDT
(aka JUDI GAMIN)

I STILL CAN SEE THAT NIGHT

When I was a girl of seventeen, and dreaming now and then
My radio beside my ear played rock and roll and when
I heard those dreamy voices, they stole my heart away
I learned their names were Don and Phil, and listened to them play

Ed Sullivan then had them on  his show on Sunday night
I saw their dreamy faces, my daydreams took to flight.
I dreamt I traveled with them on their road to fame
And watched them grab the star that set their lives' aflame

With flowing crimson capes of silk, and bejeweled crowns of gold
Embraced by clouds of stardust a fairytale was told.
The Brothers changed my life that night, inspired me to write
All my poems and stories designed by the Everly light

They went from rags to riches, obscurity to fame;
Their life was but a dream and in my mind to claim.
That was 40 years ago, my daydreams took to flight,
And when I close my eyes today, I still can see that night

EVERLY LOVE AFFAIR

The endless number of records collected,
Photographs of concerts connected
With articles in magazines
Depicting two hunks in tightly clad jeans.

Phil's cute little smile lights up that stage,
Don's twinkling eyes achieve to engage
The audience who listens attentively,
Waiting for them to sing "Let It Be Me."

Their glorious harmony lulls us in song
As we join in once more and sing along,
This choir of angels brings us to tears
Then we explode with boisterous cheers.

Yet each of them separate and alone
Stands apart from the other on their own;
Two very special and talented men,
A pleasure to listen to again and again.

We've loved them for oh! so many years,
Yes, some of us have met their peers,
But none of them can ever compare
To our wonderful Everly love affair.

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

Thanks for the memories,
For the way you make us feel,
The happy times we recall
At concerts when we squeal.

Thanks for the memories
For being politically correct,
For sweet lyrics and good music,
For the family image you project.

Thanks for the memories,
For the feeling of togetherness,
For making dreams come true,
For letting us share your success.

Dear Don and Phil --
Thank you
